International Organizations, Clubs & Services

For the past 50 years, Taichung has boasted one of Taiwan's largest international communities.  As a result, there is a rich variety of international organizations, clubs, services and other institutions serving both the foreign and local communities.

Among the more established institutions are the city's two international schools--Morrison Academy (established in 1952) and the newer American School in Taichung--which provide North American style primary and secondary educations for foreign children, and are frequent focal points for the community with many social, athletic, fine arts related activities.

Starting in the early 1990s, a number of key international business institutions and organizations were also founded, including the World Trade Center, Taichung, the site of regular exhibitions and related activites, and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Taichung, which organizes a wide range of business and social events for the community at large.
Concurrently, a number of community organizations remain very active in the city.  These include the city's oldest international organizations, the International Women's Association of Taichung, as well as an English-speaking Rotary Club chapter, and a variety of sporting/recreational clubs.
