Long known as Taiwan's "culture city", Taichung is dotted with excellent cultural attractions, venues, institutions and events. These include some of Taiwan's finest museums, temples, art galleries, and cultural/historical sites. Though most of these attractions focus on local culture, there are also periodic visiting events and attractions from abroad. In addition, the city's concert halls host a variety of cultural events regularly, from concerts of classical Chinese and Western music to various plays and operas.
