Antique Shopping in Taichung

Foreign residents of Taiwan frequently purchase Chinese antiques to decorate their homes, as investments or to take home with them when they return to their home country.  Taichung boasts several excellent and reputable establishments for purchasing Chinese antiques, both sourced locally and imported from China.  

Additionally, there is a growing market for local Taiwanese antiques.  Often, these are from the Japanese era or the early Nationalist era - both reflective of Taiwan's unique history.  Quite a few old clocks, machines and signs are for sale with Japanese and Chinese writing.  Sometimes, people look for political or propaganda pieces from the Japanese era or brought over Nationalist mainlanders from China in 1949.
