Travel Advisories
Taiwan is one of the safest places on the planet to travel in, especially for tourists, and people in Taiwan are friendly and welcoming. However, no matter how safe a place is proper precautions should be taken and common sense should be used.
If you encounter a problem of any kind, or have practically any question that needs answering, Taiwan offers an excellent 24-hour toll-free Information For Foreigners service hotline that can assist you in English, Japanese or Chinese: 0800-024-111. There is also an Information For Foreigners website: http://iff.immigration.gov.tw
It is also recommended that you visit your country's local embassy or representative office website for further advisories, assistance information and to register (if you are residing in Taiwan). In the case of serious typhoons, earthquakes and other natural disasters or emergencies, you can tune into Taiwan's English-language radio station ICRT FM 100.1 for updates and advisories.
Additional health, natural disaster and other advisories can be found at sites noted below.
