The forgettable little Taichung county town of Houli, located within a few hundred meters of the North-South Freeway not far from the coastal town of Tachia, is home to this impressive development which covers several hectares of hillside land overlooking the highway. This clean pleasant amusement facility provides plenty of summer fun to cool the entire family down in those hot humid months. Huge wave pools, water fun house, hydro slides, children's pools, Lazy River and even a beach volley ball area are available for people with different interests. For those who prefer a more relaxing mode of entertainment, there are snack bars and lounge chairs around.

Mala Bay's exceptional management and quality are evident all around, beginning with the extensively-trained personnel, who have been drilled to deal with all kinds of situations. Life guards are posted everywhere and assistants strictly monitor all rides and provide help at the top and bottom of slides. Detailed water quality-monitoring signs are posted everywhere, in English and Chinese. For that matter, all signs and information are in both languages, making the park user-friendly for non-Chinese as well.

Situated right next to the Water World is Discovery World, a safe and clean amusement park which boasts an interesting space-exploration area, its equipment having been built with cooperation from NASA. The park is divided into six main areas--Discovery Walk, D Street, Yamay Island, Enchanted Forest, Fairy Tale Village and the unfinished Palace of Dreams. There are dozens of rides for all ages, plus carnival-type games, food and drink outlets, shops and regular performances by local and foreign entertainers.
