Taichung City was selected as a “Low Carbon Model City to Be Constructed” by Environmental Protection Administration on August 4, 2011. To prompt the city towards a sustainable low-carbon city, Taichung City Government will hold a “Low Carbon City Action Forum” on May 24, 2012. Experts and scholars of the field will be invited to address four topics, including “Striving for Better Low-carbon Life", "Green Gold in Every Household”, "LOHAS Life, LOHAS Taichung” and “Look at Taichung from the Green Lands”.

In addition to the keynote speeches, a panel discussion among the mayor, the experts and scholars, and the environmental groups will be also held. It is hoped that a sufficient amount of information will be collected, low carbon strategies will be suggested, consensus among all walks of life will be reached, and Taichung City will become a low carbon model city as it picks up and implements the relevant policies suggested by all the parties.
