Under the knowledge economy the government should emphasize performance, speed and convenience. If we cannot respond to social changes by offering innovative public-service concepts and if we cannot get rid of old habits of passiveness by offering proactive service to our people, we will not only lose the support and affirmation of our people but will also be phased out by times.

The Research, Development and Evaluation Commission of Taichung City Government is a public-service unit, consisting of four divisions, namely the R & D Division, the General Planning Division, the Control and Evaluation Division, and the Public Service Division.

It is always our aim to pursue efficiency and effectiveness in providing municipal services to our people, whether we are improving service quality, strengthening control and evaluation in response to the progress of information technology, and supporting the policy decision-making by formulation of various kinds of plans.

We will provide net work services to our people in the future by making good use of the Internet, actively promoting e-government, and integrating all the units in Taichung City Government and their subordinate agencies and schools.
