#9 and #10 Hiking Trails of Dakeng Scenic Area that have been closed for demolition and renovation projects are sheduled to re-open on Friday, May 18, 2012. Taichung City Government encourages the public to go hiking there.
The wooden plank path in front of the #9 Hiking Trail was revamped. Saplings and flowers were planted along both sides of the trail.The beautiful greenery in the surroundings should give the mountaineering people a pleasant new look.
Taichung City Government pointed ou that the Dakeng Scenic Area is considered a beautiful back garden of Taichung City. The hiking trails at Dakeng are very good for recreational sports. Among them, the entrance of #9 Hiking Trail is a good place to enjoy the overview of urban landscapes of Taichung while #10 Hiking Trail provides not only a panoramic view of the Tou-ke Hills (頭嵙山群) but also a natural forest bath for people taking the trail. However, the pulic are reminded to think over their own physical conditions, watch out for the slippery ladders due to the recent rainy weather, wear trousers and long sleeves to prevent mosquito bites, and keep the hiking trails clean and tidy.
